championing of Elizabeth McQueen as a new Austin talent to be reckoned
with. Her soon to be released debut album, The Fresh Up Club,
is aptly titled, being the freshest sounding Austin country offering in
some time. Its sound is soulful country-rock--think the best of early
Carlene Carter--and McQueen proves herself to be a masterful singer and
writer. To my mind, she's the best new thing to come down this Austin
pike in some time, displaying class, versatility, and a distinctiveness
all too rare in these parts. With a deft mix of classicism and modernity,
McQueen is bound for musical greatness and possible glory. Mark my words,
